It has been said that "music soothes the savage beast", and with a new venue for local artists and musicians being coordinated by Arts Council Menifee, who is collaborating with the City of Menifee on the effort, there is hope for a more peaceful atmosphere at the sometimes contentious City Council meetings.

Arts Council Menifee's website states a mission that reads: "To bring the arts to the community of Menifee, and local artists to the public". The members meet monthly, and have indicated plans to begin hosting quarterly "Mixer" events in 2012 that the public will be encouraged to attend.

Bill Zimmerman, who is one of the founders of the Arts Council, said that as members of the public are arriving for the City Council meetings, which are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings, that they will be entertained by a classical guitarist or pianist, and will be able to view fine artist's paintings and other creations.

"We began to discover that there are some truly talented people who live right here in town when we hosted our Showcase Event earlier this year", says Bill. "This new opportunity at City Hall will allow local artists and students to display works or perform, some of them for the first time in front of a live audience".

At a recent City Council meeting, Bill Zimmerman gave an update on the venue, and indicated that the first artist will be a local pianist who will perform on November 1st. He also introduced some of the Arts Council leaders who were in attendance, and described how the group understands that promotion of the arts can have a positive impact on our quality of life, and make Menifee a more attractive place to live.

The program will launched at the city council meeting on Tuesday, November 1 at 6:30pm at City Hall.

  1. This is really cool! Our city needs more things like this so we don't have to always go to Temecula to display or view art. Maybe we can even have an art gallery in town soon.
