will somebody please inform the ladys 4th of July is NOT in June! What's the problem of NOT holding this on the 4th? When I was young our entire family went to the park all day (July 4th) to enjoy picnics, games, friendships and yes the parade and fireworks. It seems to me if your going to put an event together do it on the day of the event, or not at all.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with having it on the 2nd? At least it's closer to the 4th. Come on ladies, this is a wonderful thing you organize but, the timeframe is getting ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteIf they hold it on the weekend of the 4th people will complain they are out of town that weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt has become a 20yr tradition to hold this event the Saturday before the 4th of July. It started with the need to save on the cost of Fireworks, as the cost for having them on the 4th is very expensive. We have found that it works well for the community and most people enjoy having it on the weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe hope the most people just appreciate a community event that is FREE to all and packed with home town fun.
See you all on the 25th of June !!!
Sincerely,
Marcy Riehm

Parade Chairperson 2011
I triple love that it's always the Saturday before! Thanks for the hard work and for making it my favorite day to live in Menifee!
ReplyDeleteI agree it is very odd that the Indpendence Day Celebration would not be held on the fourth! Don't see how cost of fireworks would be any different, you can still buy early and hold them a week or so. Dissapointing as I am trying to plan a senior outing for, you know The Fourth of July!
ReplyDeleteWe hire a professional Pyrotechnic Company for our Firework show, we do not set them off ourselves !!! Oh heavens NO :)
ReplyDeleteThey cost more on the 4th of July because that is the PRIME time to hire this company.
We have to book our date a year in advance just to get the weekend before the 4th of July.
What's the old saying "Can't please ALL the people ALL the time".......God Bless Menifee.....
