Menifee residents Jimmy Canales and Leslie Kussman are putting together a "Holiday Dinner & Toys for Menifee's Less Fortunate", on Christmas Day, 2:00pm, at the Clubhouse at Wheatfield Park.

Jimmy and Leslie, both active in Menifee youth sports, came up with the idea on the spur of the moment this morning, and are now seeking to get the word out.

They're looking to other Menifee residents to donate food and toys for the event. You can even bring in your own prepared meals, or just bring in food of any kind. Anyone wishing to donate an unwrapped toy or volunteer to help out, can contact Jimmy at (951) 830-6760, or by e-mail at jimmycanales43@yahoo.com.

Please contact them right away, so that they can plan out meal preparations, and categorize gift giving.

A planning meeting will be taking place later this week.

"We just wanted to do something for the needy this Christmas", says Jimmy, a five-year coach in Menifee ASA, Little League, and basketball. "A lot of families are hitting hard times this year with all the unemployment and foreclosures. This is a young Community and we need to stick together."

Anyone knowing of local-area families in need are urged to spread the word.

Thank you so much for this. A lot of kids don't obey any traffic laws and think they own the right of way when ridding. They definitely need to be educated on rules of the road.
