Outgoing city councilman Scott Mann was honored with numerous awards and accolades this evening for his service.
Two plaques were presented by incoming and outgoing mayors of Canyon Lake, with the new mayor proclaiming this coming December 10th as "Scott Mann Day" throughout the City of Canyon Lake, noting that Mann worked hard to get funding from state and federal officials to fix leaky septic tanks and build new sewer lines. Pollution from those septic tanks have been draining into Canyon Lake.

A plaque was presented by Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor, who referred to as Mann as "truly a real public servant".
Plaques were also presented by representatives from Congressman and Congresswoman Darrell Issa and Mary Bono Mack, as well as State Senator Bill Emmerson, and State Assemblyman Paul Cook.
Menifee Mayor Wallace Edgerton praised Mann for being "such a great public servant for this city", and went on to say that "during these last two years I've leaned on you so hard", referring to how much the mayor relied on Mann.

Mann took the microphone and presented the Mayor with a photo of himself and the Mayor, along with the Mayor's father-in-law, who was Pearl Harbor survivor, and noted today is December 7th, the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack.
He went on to point out some tough moments he experienced as a city councilmember, but asked the question, "Where is integrity in public office?" in an emphatic, and raised voice. He also mentioned, "Three of the city councilmembers brought baggage to the council, while two did not." He later named the Mayor as someone he's grown a great friendship with, and referred to him as his mentor.
As for what Mann will be doing next, "I'll be going underground" he said in jest. He went on to note that he's still a delegate for Mary Bono Mack, and still holds positions with other government representatives and groups.

Mann also presented Don Vesey, a Quail Valley resident and former member of the Quail Valley Municipal Advisory Committee, with a trophy for his service on the City's Planning Commission. It was originally believed that Vesey stepped down from the commission because he was Mann's appointee. However, Mann clarified that Vesey originally announced his departure prior to the November 2 election.
As for who will replace Don Vesey on the City's Planning Commission, Tom Fuhrman will be making that decision. However, he won't appoint a new commissioner until January 2011, when the city council appoints a new set of commissioners.

He will be missed. J Stuart
