The Rotary Club of Menifee is putting together a hot rod show, perhaps similar to Temecula's Rod Run, called "Menifee Motor Madness", on May 16, 2009, at MSJC.
1974 and earlier cars, with a 300 show car limit. 30 tropies.
All proceeds benefit Rotary International Clean Water Projects.

I think this will be a great event and wish the Rotary success!
ReplyDeleteJust one question - Why does the Rotary Club of Menifee have a Temecula Address?
The address is Temecula because the volunteer helping with registration is in Temecula.
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to have a motorcycle show or run for the city also
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Something to do in Menifee!!
ReplyDeleteMe and my hot rod will be there.
ReplyDeleteI will bring my ROD to:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun. I hope they will put more effort into the function than was put into the Christmas Faire at the college during the holidays. That was the worst. I would hate for Menifee to get the reputation of having bad festivals/functions. I know, instead of just complaining I should volunteer. If you post the url I would love to.
ReplyDeleteThe Lake Menifee Women's Club is always looking for residents that would like to Participate in our Annual "Menifee Independence Day Parade", and we would love to have some beautiful classic cars. If anyone is interested, please go to our website and send us an email. This year's event will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 (It's always the Saturday before the 4th of July).

As resident Kassen Klein from Murrieta said in a meeting, we need a tradition here and this is a great beginning. Although not very original, it will still be fun and something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up guys.
I would love to hear how this went as I missed the announcement and would have gone! I hope those with hot rods see the comment on being in the Fourth of July Parade (June 27th actually) as so many of us love the parade and fireworks! Its small, its local and always so nice to visit with neighbors and friends, walk the little fair and lay on the grass and watch the fireworks. It wouldn't be summer without this event! The cars would be a really nice addition!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jana for your kind comments about the Annual Menifee Independence Day Parade/Celebration!
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly our (Lake Menifee Women's Club's) goal is to provide a Community event that has that small town feel to it.
Our club just celebrated it's 19th year and we our proud to say that this event is our pride and joy. Having said that, this event has become VERY costly to put on. In the past 4 years we have been given a Grant from the Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone's office to help with the added costs, in addition to that we have received a yearly generous donation from the Menifee Lakes Master Assoc to help offset the costs of ALL of our yearly events. We are so very GRATEFUL to those donations and especially to the Volunteers in our Club who have worked all year in our Club's Snack Bar to raise the needed funds to bring these fun events to our City of Menifee !!
Sadly, since becoming a city, our club will no longer be given any funds from the Riverside County and for the first time in 18 years the Menifee Master Assoc is reconsidering it's donation, feeling that the City of Menifee should now be paying for this event.
So Citizens of Menifee, please help support our Club by visiting our Snack Bar(Wheatfield Park) !! We are all working very hard to reach our goals and we need your help!!
It is our Passion & Pleasure to bring these fun events to ALL of our great Citizens of Menifee !!
Sincerly,
Marcy Riehm

I would like to see some other ways in which we might donate or add to the pot to keep the fireworks going.(besides the snack bar as some of us aren't always there) I hope the Women's Club keeps us all informed and that the city helps to keep the things that make us Menifee rather than (sorry but I thought it crazy waste of money)use monies to one way Newport and other roads rather than just FILL IN THE CORNERS of Murrieta and Newport and streamline the traffic through there again. Citizens are volunteering to get groups going and arts programs started to make our city a eventful and wonderful one as well as a functioning entity.(I've been told the City is too busy right now to do this but I still think its very important) We have a chance to make Menifee known for community events, public art and happenings as well as beauty-if we want. Thats an if. I realize the city has to be run and paid and function but these things should be a part as well and as there are people willing to help for free.... anyway, please 24/7 and the Women's Club-keep us all informed!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like fun, but you need a larger venue. The 300 car limit doesn't sound like much. The Temecula Rod Run pulls in around 750 cars.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to see a show that features newer special interest cars such as Vipers, Ford GT, "New" Challengers, GT-500s, "New" Camaros, and some imports.
Come out the the MOPAR show at the California School for the Deaf in Riverside on Sunday May 17th.
What a great show! Lots of nice looking cars...and trucks! I took a bunch of pictures. Feel free to check them out!

I also have some pics from the Hemet car show a few weeks ago.
Enjoy!
