Hopefully, we'll get a turnout of at least 50% here in Menifee Valley, compared to the 33% that the Registrar of Voters is predicting across Riverside County.
One thing working against voters who live in Menifee, is apathy. It's not that families don't care about cityhood, it's that they largely don't see the concern right now.
For example, when I moved here from Orange County in 2001, I came from a place that was already congested, where there was a greater likelihood of making enemies than friends. But when we came here, we found a much different community. It was quiet here, and all of our neighbors wanted to be friends.
We didn't see a need to change Menifee, with perhaps the exception of adding more shopping and dining.
I think even the families that moved in here within the past couple of years have the same thoughts.
They can't see what's in the future for Menifee because they still see this community as being a welcome relief from where they came from.
But now that we've been here for awhile, we have a clearer picture of what's going on around here. I hope everyone loves their community enough to cast a ballot.
If you don't know where to vote, you can look it up here...

I am thinking 25 to 30 percent turnout. Living in Menifee Lakes, if cityhood is voted down, then the next best option in my opinion is that Murrieta will move into Menifee and the boundry will be around Newport Rd. Perris then can move into Romoland and Sun City.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to find the radio talk show that Theresa gave her list of picks for council. does anyone know which talk show that was on? thank you !
ReplyDeleteWe need to make sure that people come out and vote. If being Annexed by Perris mis such s great Idea, maybe we should include Menifee Lakes in that annexation. If Murrietta is going to annex, it would be better for all of the young families in Sun City to be included, regardless of the seniors. Let Perris have Romoland and Quail Valley. The fact is though, that the people of Menifee are stupid if they don't see the importance of cityhood and voting and they get what they deserve if they fail to cast a vote. Unfortunately those of us who understand the importance of cityhood will be left without our city and a whole lot of bitterness. Do the right thing tomorrow. Get up and vote for cityhood.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Therese actually gave her list other than Edgerton. Julie Johnson did on the very first radio show.
ReplyDeleteTherese listed her picks during the 4th show I believe. Check the main Menifee 24/7 page. About two-thirds of the way down is the article Steve posted about the 4th show.
ReplyDeleteMany of the earlier posts seems so down. If we can get approximately 30% of the voters to turn out, we will have an excellent chance of winning. I have done some estimating and I used some very pessimistic stats such as only 35% to 40% of the Seniors voting yes. Even with those figures, we will have an excellent chance. However, I feel that the Yes Cityhood vote will be stronger in the Core and Oasis than we expect. Everyone stays optimistic.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone cheer up! I think Cityhood has a great chance to pass! A lot of the seniors were resigned to vote for it because deep down they knew it was the right thing. The last person that commented is so right...Oasis is very positive about Cityhood as a good section of the core. However, WE NEED THE YOUNG FAMILIES VOTES FOR CITYHOOD! So please get out and vote! You really, really don't want to become the City of Perris if you are up top of the map and you still don't want to be Murrieta down at the bottom because they will just want your money and NOT your best interest. Call your friends and make sure they VOTE. I called 10 already so everyone else call 10 and we should be good!
ReplyDeleteHey! Would everyone stop throwing Quail Valley to the curb and under the bus. We moved into the new Canyon Heights homes waiting to vote for cityhood. The people here have been working to build Quail Valley up, working with Jeff Stone and the community. It has potential. I feel as much is at stake for me, and my family, as for others in the area.
ReplyDeleteI already sent in my ballot, and so have my family members.
Romoland and Quail Valley is very poor area and too many mexican people live there. That is why they live cheaper place there. Also in Sun City is very poor and old area that never improve development for many years. I dont want Menifee take over Romoland & Quail Valley & Sun City. Let Perris have Romoland and Quail Valley but I heard that Perris dont want Romoland.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who works at the polls has had nothing but frustration this voting time. We were told that Riverside County's system which has all the poll workers names, assigned places, etc crashed several days back and is just now up and running. We learned this ONLY after contacting the county to see why workers had not received notification, updating classes, etc. You'll probably see new faces at your polls this time because of the mess. Some were told the county didn't even have the names, much less the rest of the info on the workers. talk about ring-around-the-rosey....

ReplyDeleteI guess this wouldn't have been a blog without this type of ignorance being posted. Perhaps this person ought to take some English classes so they can learn to write.
Anyhow, looks like cityhood it is. Good job to all that went out and voted. Including Mexicans such as myself.
As well as Mexicans such as my Father in law, my sister in law, and my wife. Kudos to the las anonymous poster and a great big ppbbtthhtthhhhh to the poster (the IGNORANT one) beofe the previous one.
