Hi Steve,I called the Perris substation, but was closed. Sheriff's press releases don't mention anything, and I don't have access to any other incident reports.
There was a arrest at Freedom crest elm. school today 9-28-07 man or men with gun walked on school campus during school hours. I can not find any news or info? Parents in my neighborhood want to know what happen Can you report on this incident?

I was there picking up my children and as I was waiting in the pick up lane, I heard alot of sirens and as I looked to see the commotion, I saw police officers with hand guns and assault rifles. A man was ordered out of a pickup and swiftly arrested and the incident was over. They were very professional and made sure the kids stayed in the building until the situation was clear. I dont know why the man was arrested or what he did to cause such a fuss, but he didnt walk onto the campus with a gun at all.
ReplyDeleteI heard this too, I called the school and they said they were informed that the sheriffs were out with an occupied stolen car. This is standard procedure to have the school on "lockdown" while conducting a high risk felony traffic stop near schools or businesses.
ReplyDeleteMy car was directly in front of the truck Friday when the man was being arrested. I saw the cops pull up, block the road, and pull their guns. They then told me to move out the line of fire. The problem was I had very little options for moving, other than out of the school's car line, toward the end of Menifee Road and into the school. Which where i went.......the dismal bells had just rang, so there was some confussion as what to do and how to recall the students that were out on campus. The school's principal handled it all very well; annoucement was immediately given to keep all students in the classrooms with locked doors, and all other students and parents were to go to the nearest classroom or MPR for safety reasons.
ReplyDeleteI think the school should have called the parents with a recorded message regarding the incident. They call on every other little thing. especially when lunch account balance is over $.25
ReplyDeleteThey called me...
ReplyDeleteThey also called my neighbor across the street with a message about the incident.
ReplyDeletemy little brother who goes to freedom crest got a letter about what happened. the letter said that the vehicle was stolen, which was a "high-class" felony.
